Cervical Cancer Advocacy handbook
UICC’s 2025 Cervical Cancer Advocacy handbook serves as a practical guide to support civil society organisations (CSOs) and patient groups in advocating for comprehensive cervical cancer prevention, screening and treatment services, in line with the WHO Global Strategy to eliminate cervical cancer and the latest recommendations since its launch.
Despite being preventable and treatable, cervical cancer continues to take the life of one woman every two minutes—disproportionately affecting those in low-resource settings. Drawing on insights from UICC’s Cancer Advocates programme and successful case studies from UICC members, the handbook offers tools, adaptable messaging, and strategic guidance to help advocates assess national progress, identify barriers, and drive effective policy change.
The handbook builds upon a series of existing resources developed as part of UICC’s Cancer Advocates programme, to support civil society in their advocacy efforts, including an overarching Advocacy toolkit and a Breast Cancer Advocacy handbook. It is also part of a larger portfolio of resources on cervical cancer, including a recently launched online course providing foundational knowledge on the WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative and its first Global Strategy for the elimination of cancer as a public health problem.
The Cervical Cancer Advocacy handbook will soon be available in French and Spanish.
