Virtual Dialogue - The critical role of data in addressing antimicrobial resistance for better cancer treatment and care
24 June 2025, 14:00-15:00 Central European Summer Time (click here to convert timezone)
People with cancer are more susceptible to infections due to the lowering of their immune defences. Infections are the second leading cause of death among cancer patients, after the cancer itself. The emergence of drug-resistant pathogens are negatively affecting cancer care and if countermeasures are not taken now, all the progress made in cancer care will be undermined.
Data on the impact of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on cancer care is scarce. To effectively address this issue, it is critical to prioritise data collection and surveillance. They are essential in informing evidence-based policy and interventions.
This UICC Virtual Dialogue will focus on the importance of data and discuss recent publications on the topic.
