Beira Cancer Registry

The registry is covering whole Beira City with 462.000 inhabitants. We generate data on incidence of cancer annually since 2005, and make the trends trying to find out any change on the occurrence of this disease in this population, monitoring the preventive interventions. The most important cancers are: Cervical, Kaposi Sarcoma, Breast, Esophagus, Lymphoma and Eye, Urinary bladder and prostate. This information them have been sent to the Local and Central health authorities in order to help them to make the right decisions and policies for cancer control according to the National Cancer Program Control. Also we are planning to provide the information to the Mozambican Association Against Cancer.
