Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society

UICC Partnerships Programme
-

Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society was started by a group of cancer patients in the community who founded and registered in 1963 and was formally established on October 6 the following year. Their aim is to educate the public on cancer information for cancer patients and help their families with support services. The Society is committed to promoting the psychological and emotional needs of the patient. They have worked closely with the Nam Long Hospital since 1986 to ensure such services, offering over 180 beds for cancer patients. Membership in the Society consists of medical social workers and administrators, and cancer surgeons who are dedicated to helping fight cancer. Research on the causes of cancer in the community is conducted to specifically deal with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and female lung cancer. In 1964, Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society was accepted as a full UICC member.
