Liga Portuguesa contra o Cancro "Portuguese League Against Cancer" was founded in 1941 as a private non-profit organization.

The League works on health education and cancer prevention campaigns, especially regarding tobacco and the younger generations. and cancer prevention campaigns, especially regarding tobacco and the younger generations.

They operate the National Breast Cancer Screening Programme and continues to collaborate and develop projects at international levels namely with the UICC, ECL and the ALICC.

In order for their core activities like fundraising for cancer awareness and education to succeed, it is essential to continue to run campaigns like "European week against cancer" and "National breast cancer screening programme" which will keep the League relevant into the future.

Portuguese League Against Cancer became a UICC member in 1983.
