Cancer Society Nepal
Cancer Society Nepal (CSN), a registered charitable voluntary organization, was established in Nepal in 2004. The organization works towards helping cancer patients and their families deal with cancer through a holistic approach.
CSN's objective is to impress upon patients that cancer does not necessarily mean death, and that it is possible to overcome the disease to lead a full life.
Other objectives are Anti-tobacco programmes, public awareness and screening programmes, advocacy and counseling services, training, workshops, rehabilitation service, financial support to cancer patients, research activities and cancer education programmes.
In line with its objectives, CSN organizes several activities including public awareness programs in the Kathmandu and surrounding communities. It is currently focusing on breast and cervical cancer in it's detection and prevention programs.
The organization plans to increase the number of treatment branches to all 75 districts of Nepal, and soon they will be organizing a rehabilitation centere, with the objective of helping poor and needy cancer patients and their relatives find gainful and appropriate employment. The centre will specialize in various trades including tailoring, stationary, fabrication, painting and manufacturing.
In June 2008, Cancer Society Nepal was accepted as a full member with UICC.
