A Word with a Fellow

Listen to the testimony of the first awardee of the UICC-IARC Development Fellowship

Header Paragraph

The recipient of the first Fellowship is Dr Oresto Michael Munishi, Director of the Kilimanjaro Cancer Registry, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Moshi, Tanzania. With his recently awarded UICC-IARC* Development Fellowship, Dr Munishi aims to develop a research protocol that will describe case characteristics of the Oesophageal cancer in Kilimanjaro, as well as profiling the known risk factors for this disease.

The UICC-IARC Development Fellowship is a new initiative that builds on established programmes of both organisations and reiterate their joint commitment to promote training in cancer in low- and middle-income countries.

The aim of the UICC-IARC Development Fellowship is to allow each year for one of the most promising participants of the IARC Summer School to return to IARC and spend a period of up to three months integrated in one of the IARC Groups to receive further training in all areas of research and/or to set up a research collaboration.
