About World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day takes place every year on 4 February and is the single initiative under which the world can unite to raise the profile of cancer in a positive and inspiring way. The day aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about the disease, pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action.

2020 is the 20th anniversary of World Cancer Day and marks the second year of the three-year campaign, ‘I Am and I Will’ campaign, which explores how everyone – as a collective or as individuals – can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer. The 2020 campaign will follow on the back of tremendous success from this past World Cancer Day where nearly 1,000 activities took place in over 100 countries, over 15,000 press articles covered the day, and over 700,000 social media mentions.
