2021 WHO Regional Committee Meetings

Each year representatives from the different WHO regional offices meet to review progress and discuss priority public health issues. These meetings provide advocates with a great opportunity to meet with representatives from national Ministries of Health and share key messaging on cancer control issues.

Putting UICC members at the forefront

As an organisation in official relations with the WHO, UICC has the privilege of being invited to participate in these regional committee meetings (RCMs). We see this as a great opportunity for our member organisations to engage with their regional and national WHO offices as well as Ministries of Health, this year we are looking for at least one organisation per region to represent the global community at these meetings. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic participation in these meetings will be virtual.

We are looking for representatives who have:

  • An interest and expertise in the agenda items up for discussion
  • Experience advocating nationally or regionally
  • A clear plan for how they would like to use the RCM to support their advocacy

As a member of the UICC delegation, we expect members to co-develop and deliver UICC statement(s) on relevant agenda items and report back on your progress and experiences to the Advocacy Network to share any lessons learned.

If you are interested in joining the UICC delegation without a travel grant please contact the Knowledge, Advocacy and Policy team by the date in the table above. Alternatively, if your organisation is planning on attending on your own invitation please also let us know as we would like to connect all the cancer advocates attending.
