Advocacy and Networks Team © UICC 2016

In the lead up to the 2011 UN High Level Meeting on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), UICC's advocacy team worked with a small group of UICC members to advocate for a strong outcome for the cancer community.  Known as the CAN25by25 network, this group continues to play a critical role in positioning cancer and other NCDs as a global health and development issue, securing cancer-specific commitments from governments around the world, and helping to drive their implementation at national level. CAN25by25 is now a group of over 100 members representing nearly 80 organisations across 47 countries.

By joining the CAN25by25 network, you will receive monthly updates on global and organisational advocacy developments, training opportunities and advocacy resources that can be used to support work at a national level, sharing knowledge and information with likeminded and committed individuals working hard as advocates. In particular, you will play a key role in strengthening our global advocacy efforts in three key areas:

  • Communications: Help us disseminate and promote key cancer and NCD messages
  • Evidence-based advocacy: Share data, and examples of good practices in cancer prevention and control from your country
  • Technical Expertise: Provide input into UICC position papers, factsheets, and contributions to UN and WHO consultation processes.
