Spotlight on access to radiotherapy

Latest updates from the Global Task Force on Radiotherapy for Cancer Control (GTFRCC)

In 2014, the GTFRCC has made significant advances in tackling barriers to accessing radiotherapy.

In June, The Lancet Oncology published a commentary on GlobalRT - an initiative of the Young Leaders Program of the GTFRCC. GlobaIRT provides a virtual platform for education, exchange, and action around the essential nature of radiotherapy for cancer care, featuring patient and provider stories through visual and written images that capture the human dimension of radiotherapy. At this year's upcoming ASTRO meeting, GTFRCC will present a session, "Inserting Radiotherapy into the Global Health Movement", on September 14th from 4:45-6:15 pm. The session chaired by UICC President, Dr Mary Gospodarowicz, will focus on the role of radiotherapy in resource limited countries and the GTFRCC’s efforts in bridging the gap of inequitable access to radiotherapy. Come along to the session to also discuss radiotherapy as a global health priority and setting global health milestones in radiotherapy. Click here for the full agenda.
