Header Paragraph

Today, on its fifth anniversary, the NCD Alliance has announced Management Sciences for Health (MSH) as the second global partner to join the NCD Alliance Steering Group. The NCD Alliance announced only three weeks ago it was expanding its governance structure to include a broader set of voices and representatives from the global non-communicable disease (NCD) community. Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) became the first new global partner to join the Steering Group, providing valuable perspectives on mental and neurological disorders.

MSH, an international non-profit organisation, uses proven approaches developed over four decades to help leaders, health managers, and communities in developing nations build stronger health systems for greater health impact. MSH worked in 73 countries last year and has offices in 40 countries.

“In joining the NCD Alliance, MSH will help amplify our impact from global to local levels,” said Mr Cary Adams, Chair of the NCD Alliance. “As an organisation with extensive knowledge and expertise in health systems strengthening and integration, coupled with a demonstrable commitment and focus on NCDs, their focus on innovation, evidence generation, and advocacy will add significant value to the strategy and operations of the NCD Alliance”.

Dr. Jonathan Quick, CEO and President of MSH said: “MSH is excited and privileged to join the NCD Alliance Steering Group. In its first five years, the Alliance has become a powerful force in the worldwide movement to address the rapidly expanding NCD epidemic. A health systems approach to NCDs has the greatest health impact and ensures that interventions are sustainable, efficient, and effective. The chronic nature of the diseases requires a continuum of care. It is crucial that governments recognize their multiple partners in-country—including the private sector, NGOs, civil society, and academics. All play leading roles in this movement. ”

Catharine Howard Taylor, Vice President of MSH’s Center for Health Services, who will represent MSH on the NCD Alliance Steering Group said, “At MSH, we have seen firsthand the critical importance of integrating primary health services, building leadership and governance capacity so that ministries can prioritize and implement strong national health sector plans to combat NCDs, and ensuring efficient health financing and access to affordable medicines We are honored to join the NCD Alliance as we work toward our common goal of combatting the NCD epidemic.”
