Setting up a Hope Lodge

UICC's handbook provides comprehensive practical information about establishing and running Hope Lodges, facilitating patient support, meeting special needs and fostering a positive and supportive environment.

In many countries, cancer patients face difficulties accessing effective care because of long distances to medical centres. Hope Lodges offer low-cost or free accommodation to patients and family members and, where resources permit, specialised services such as psychological counselling.

Hope Lodges provide a vital bridge between hospital and home, offering a friendly, convivial environment where patients can share experiences and support one another through sometimes difficult phases of treatment.

Promoting equal access to professional treatment and care for people around the world, Hope Lodges are making a significant contribution to improving the quality of life for cancer patients everywhere.
