Capacity building
Developing capacity building initiatives to strengthen the cancer community
About capacity building

UICC has more than 50 years of experience in providing training and capacity building across the field of cancer control.

In promoting greater equity in cancer control, UICC is striving to:

  • Support organisations in doing a better job tomorrow than they do today
  • Increase members’ impact by scaling up their relevance, reach, and sustainability in their own settings, taking into account that each member is unique

"I am so grateful for this course and addressing these issues and functionality in a way that is informative and also dispels the beliefs and taboo language and process around sexuality. So good to openly discuss and have good questions to ask. Thank you to the team who put this together and to the lecturers who gave their time and experience - such a well rounded course"

“UICC has pioneered the development of a tailor-made programme to support CEOs of cancer organisations in their leadership role and to help them address today’s challenges in the rapidly changing environment of cancer control. As a CEO myself, I was excited to experience these opportunities to mingle with peers, exchange thoughts and views, and hear about best practice case studies. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend the sessions and meet other CEOs in the cancer field.”

Chris Wild, Director of IARC speaking at the 2016 WCLS

"Being a UICC fellow is an outstanding opportunity to sharpen skills across different areas of cancer research and receive exceptional training to become a leader in the field of cancer control. It is also a valuable route to furthering career development, adding value to the work of one’s home institution and expanding professional networks."
