Building advocacy capacity: opportunity for members

Throughout 2014 we hope to partner with other UICC members to facilitate a series of fellowship/internship opportunities on specific topics.

These include access to essential medicines, palliative care and radiotherapy, allowing for meaningful knowledge exchange and building advocacy capacity both within our team and our membership.

André Ilbawi (MD Anderson Cancer Center) is spending four months with UICC’s advocacy team in Geneva.

André was granted a UICC fellowship in the Advocacy team to develop a set of Breast Cancer Knowledge Summaries and then integrate this tool within the International Cancer Control Partnership portal to be presented and communicated to policy makers. These Knowledge Summaries serve to increase expertise and provide a road map for national actions consistent with the WHO Global Action Plan on Non-communicable Diseases (2013-2020).
