UICC's World Cancer Congress 2022 Summary Report is out!

UICC’s post-Congress survey revealed that 98% of respondents would recommend Congress to someone else, 88% rated their experience in Geneva as very good to outstanding, 93% reported having made new connections and the same percentage said they learned something new.

Some 2,000 people from over 120 countries took part in the event, with 1,600 registered participants on site and over 400 connecting remotely. Nearly half of the delegates were from UICC member organisations and 25% held leadership responsibilities. There were also 55 partners and sponsors present at the event, and 60 organisations engaged in the Global Village comprising exhibition stands, a Spotlight Stage and the opportunity to “Meet the Experts”. Nearly 6,700 messages were exchanged on the Congress online platform and 4,250 contacts were made.

160 sessions and over 200 abstracts were presented in Geneva. A total of 624 abstracts were selected to constitute the eLibrary accessible by all registered participants. Several abstracts were covered by the media, with the World Cancer Congress mentioned in over 600 press articles and coverage in major outlets such as AFP, El País, Il Repubblica, EFE, Times (South Africa), RTS, Euractiv and The Lancet.

In addition to the on-site programme, the Congress online platform allowed participants to network remotely and access 66 pre-recorded digital sessions. Recordings of the sessions, plenaries and debates delivered in Geneva have been made available on the platform after the live event and remain accessible to registered participants until 31 December 2022.

For the first time in its history, the World Cancer Congress was hosted by a group of several cancer organisations and institutions: the Swedish Cancer Society, the Dutch Cancer Society, the French National Cancer Institute (INCA), the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), the Nordic Cancer Union and the Norwegian Cancer Society) 

The event was also held in partnership with three UN agencies: the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
