New African Cancer Fellowship Launched

In collaboration with the American Cancer Society, UICC has launched the African Cancer Fellowships a new programme linked to the World Cancer Congress in 2018 which will enhance educational opportunities for health care workers across Africa, and facilitate the sharing of advances in health services across the region.

The programme is open to individuals working in any area across the cancer continuum who are working to improve current services; scale up access to services locally, nationally or regionally; or test implementation of new services or solutions. Awardees will be given the opportunity to benefit from peer-to-peer exchange and information sharing, allowing them to learn and disseminate specific skills and knowledge relevant to cancer care within their organisations and region.

Awardees will visit an organisation in a different country for a month, where they can gain new knowledge and/or skills in cancer control. In addition, they will submit abstracts on their projects to the World Cancer Congress in Kuala Lumpur in 2018, and travel grants will be offered to those selected to attend a dedicated workshop at the congress where knowledge and best practice sharing can take place amongst peers. Awarded fellows will also be invited to join a common interest network to encourage continued contact.
