Oncology is a key medical specialty in Rizhao City. The Rehabilitation Department, established in 1998, has become a cancer research and treatment centre with a certain scale and high-level after years of clinical experience, equipment renewal, personnel training and reserve. At present, it has become an oncology specialty treatment base integrating oncology medical treatment, teaching and scientific research in southeastern Shandong. It is now a national resident standardised training base, a national clinical drug test base, a member unit of China Anti-Cancer Association, a promotion base of the Professional Committee of Precision Medicine and Cancer MDT (PMOC), a collaborative Hospital of Shandong Cancer Hospital, a standardised diagnosis and treatment base of Shandong Cancer Hospital, a postgraduate training base of Weifang Medical College, and a mountain. The academician workstation of East Province and the academician expert workstation of Shandong Province, etc. In 2004, the Rizhao Anti-cancer Association approved by the Bureau of Civil Affairs and the Municipal Association of Science and Technology was affiliated with the oncology department. It undertook the tasks of diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors, academic exchanges, popularisation of science, scientific research cooperation and so on. The Rizhao Anti-Cancer Association was successively awarded advanced social organisation and advanced society of Rizhao City. Oncology now has advanced radiotherapy equipment such as Siemens Linear Accelerator in Germany, Walian Linear Accelerator in America, Pinnacle Therapy Planning System, Eclipse Therapy Planning System, CT Simulator Locator, ARIA Tumor Information Management System and NRL-004 Internal Acoustic Field Therapy System. There are 102 doctors and nurses, including 3 chief physicians, 6 deputy chief physicians, 11 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief nurses, 8 chief nurses, 11 radiotherapy technicians, 3 master tutors, 1 doctor and 22 master students. There are 200 beds, one-ward, two-ward and three-ward in the oncology department. Four wards of oncology will be opened next year.
