"The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) unites the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to integrate cancer control into the world health and development agenda."
The ICCP Portal is a one-stop stop for cancer prevention and control planning. It hosts topic-specific networks across the cancer care continuum that identifies best practices, key resources and gaps in those fields.
The Foundation has four operating themes which include (i) Dissemination of authentic information for improving cancer awareness and education in general public through print, electronic media, by holding regular meetings on cancer awareness and by participating in community programmes. (ii) Research in cancer prevention through population-based research on topics of critical interest to the country such as epidemiology, chemoprevention, cancer vaccines, new detection methods and tests etc. (iii) Development of human resource in cancer prevention and early detection by holding workshops, trainings, conference/symposia on topical themes and publishing protocols, manuals and innovative communication material on cancer prevention for medical and para-medical professionals, and (iv) Service and Support to cancer patients through cancer helpline that provides counselling and clinical advice during and post-treatment status of patients.
