Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital

Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital (BL2TH) is a national referral and teaching hospital located in Northern Rwanda. Through the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence (BCCOE), the hospital provides comprehensive cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, palliative care, education, and research services. Established through partnerships with the Rwanda Ministry of Health, Partners In Health, and international academic institutions, BCCOE serves patients from across Rwanda and the region. The hospital is actively engaged in implementation research, workforce development, quality improvement, and health systems strengthening, with a particular focus on reducing inequities in cancer care. In addition to cancer services, Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital provides specialized medical, surgical, maternal, and pediatric care and serves as a training site for healthcare professionals.
