The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) expansion consists of an inpatient tower and outpatient building that doubles the capacity of the existing Center and provides improved, integrated space for patient care, research and education. These new technologically cutting-edge facilities enable KHCC to become one of the leading medical hubs in the Middle East for comprehensive cancer treatment and care.
The pre-existing infrastructure for cancer care in Jordan was not sufficient to treat Jordanian cancer patients in the coming decade. The number of new cancer cases in Jordan is on the rise and expected to grow at a higher rate than population growth by 2020.
Additionally, an increasing number of patients from GCC countries go to Jordan to seek treatment at KHCC due to its medical excellence, lower costs, and cultural and language similarities. KHCC also accepts many underprivileged patients from conflict countries such as Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Sudan who would not otherwise be able to receive the life-saving cancer treatment they need.
KHCC is the leading cancer center in the Middle East region providing adult and pediatric patients with state of the art comprehensive cancer care for all types of cancer. It is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as a disease specific cancer center, making it the first and only center in the developing world to earn such a distinction. The mission of King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) is to provide state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer care to the people of Jordan and the Middle Eastern region. They are also working to improve access to education, training, public awareness and research in order to decrease mortality and alleviate suffering from cancer in accordance with the highest standards and quality of care. And the vision is to transition KHCC into a leading institution in oncology care, training and research that will be a pillar in elevating health care in the region and beyond.
KHCC became full UICC member in 1998.
