Through their keynote addresses, President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Uruguay Tabaré Vázquez, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain, HE Mrs Gabriela Michetti, Vice President of Argentina, and HE Mrs Kim Simplis Barrow, First Lady of Belize, all emphasized the importance of putting cancer at the forefront of national health agendas through political will, resource mobilisation, task-shifting and collaboration.

Ministers of Health from Mexico, Spain and Ghana as well as industry and city leaders engaged the audience in robust discussions around the building blocks that are required to support the sustainable delivery of cancer services and care at national and city levels, pledging for a better integration and promotion of comprehensive care.

In harmony with the Summit's theme 'Cities driving change', UICC President, Professor Aranda, announced an exciting new phase of C/Can 2025 with the call for applications for Challenge Cities to join the initiative.

Summit participants also had the opportunity to be involved in a series of thought leadership breakfast sessions and workshops, organised by the Summit supporters.

As a result, the Summit gained wide media coverage across all Latin America and part of Europe and Africa. 824 articles were published, raising the profile of cancer worldwide while 8,605 tweets with a potential reach of 36.1 million users were shared.

The 2018 Summit will take place on Monday 1 October in Kuala Lumpur, in conjunction with the World Cancer Congress.

Entitled ‘Cancer Treatment for All’, the forum will call on the international cancer community to address the global equity gap in access to cancer services and the need for countries to further invest in early detection, treatment and care to contribute to the 25x25 NCD targets.

Secure your attendance to both events as the registration for the Congress has now opened. You can register for the Congress as an individual or as a group.
