News 30 October 2013 A food policy package and "The Law & Obesity Prevention" Two new publications by WCRF International Header Paragraph The World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRF International) have released two new publications which share common themes in obesity prevention and advancing the wider implementation of effective policies for healthier diets. Law and Obesity Prevention: Addressing some key questions for the public health community The Law and Obesity paper is the first in WCRF International's new series of Policy and Public Affairs Working Papers and explores the role of law as a mechanism to advance a more effective food policy for obesity prevention. The publication constitutes an example of how the cancer community can collaborate with the legal community, but also highlights the specific areas where more engagement is needed. WCRF International Nourishing Framework (a web-based publication) The WCRF International NOURISHING Framework is a food policy package for healthy diets and the prevention of obesity and diet-related non-communicable diseases. It is described in a paper which was published in the latest Obesity Reviews supplement. It fits in very nicely with the paper on the use of law as it describes the policy options that may be amenable to legislation/regulation.
