Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to announce the next World Congress of Brachytherapy, scheduled to take place from 10-12 May 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.

This is the fifth edition of this joint meeting and as it stands the programme will comprise a complete three day meeting with special symposia including the specific brachytherapy aspects of functional imaging, robotics, health economics, radiobiological modelling, safety, and training. Panel sessions and debates will include subjects such as partial breast, focal therapy in prostate, dose to water calibration, impact of image guidance on morbidity in gynaecology, salvage brachytherapy in prostate and breast, new dose calculation algorithms and adjuvant treatment in endometrial cancer.

All the major indications and aspects of brachytherapy will be covered by specific proffered papers sessions. To bring more attention to the high quality of work put into posters, a new activity for this meeting will be special poster presentations in which appointed moderators will give a short presentation of selected posters with the author standing by to answer questions. In addition, poster highlight plenary sessions will be included.
