World Cancer Research Fund UK
World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK) is supporting this year's World Cancer Day campaign in many ways! These are just some of things we're doing to mark this very important event:
- WCRF UK Chief Executive, Marilyn Gentry, has posted a special statement of support on our website - wcrf-uk.org - to highlight World Cancer Day and the goal of reducing deaths from cancer and other NCDs by 25% by 2025.
- We're holding a special evening reception with the Chairman of WCRF UK's Board of Trustees, which will highlight the importance World Cancer Day and cancer prevention.
- We're sending out a national press release on 4th February to highlight projected UK cancer rates and the measures that are needed to combat these.
- We've also sent a letter to newspaper editors announcing our support for the campaign.
- Marilyn Gentry, has sent a joint letter with Macmillan Cancer Support Chief Executive, Ciaran Devane, to the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, calling on the British Government to do all it can to improve cancer prevention and control.
- On 4th February, the Ambassador Theatre Group will be helping to raise awareness of World Cancer Day by holding collections on behalf of WCRF UK in 40 of its theatres across the UK.
- We'll also be Tweeting and Facebooking about World Cancer Day. You can follow us here: @wcrf_uk
