World Cancer Day Observance for Shanti's Cancer Support Program and Group
Shanti Project would like to raise awareness of "Jeffrey's Place" a Gay Men's Cancer Support Group and Lifelines, the Breast Cancer Program for Women and Men.
"Jeffrey's Place" is the only gay men's cancer support group in the Bay Area. The group is here to support Gay/Bi/Queer Men who have been diagnosed with cancer, living with cancer or survivors of cancer. This group is in memory of San Francisco actor, director, playwright and close friend, Jeffrey Hartgraves.
The LifeLines Breast Cancer Program, initiated in July 2001, provides practical assistance and emotional support to underserved women and men with breast cancer.
The event will focus on bringing information about the services Shanti has to offer and give people an opportunity to talk to others, whether they are directly affected with cancer or as a cergiver.
Planned parts of the event include:
Blessing for the group by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
Raffle of items to raise funds to support programs.
Distribution of services and information.
