The World Cancer Day 2017 Impact Report takes a closer look at the activities and actions from this year’s World Cancer Day and some of the remarkable results achieved through the collective efforts of every supporter.
In addition to highlighting some of the key figures and statistics, this year’s report considers the resonance of the Day. The report casts a broader look at the involvement of governments across the world, with a spotlight on the Tanzanian Ministry of Health who chose to launch their Breast healthcare plan on 4 February.
It likewise reports on the numerous activities by UICC members, providing a global overview of how cancer organisations marked World Cancer Day. Recognition is also given to the contributions made by cities who chose to light up their landmarks to signal their commitment to the cause.
The report further provides a snapshot of how the international sport community came together to lend their voice and influence through the Support through Sport social media activity. Through mini-case studies, the report also showcases how companies and corporate partners used the Day for impact.
With many new initiatives taking place for the first time in 2017, including the Support through Sport social media activity, the custom poster tool and live chat function, the report was also the opportunity to measure how these, together with existing initiatives, provided value to supporters.

Thanks to all World Cancer Day 2017 supporters
This report reflects only a small fraction of the collective efforts and actions on World Cancer Day 2017. Every organisation and individual is an integral part of the success, making 4 February not only a key date on the world’s health agenda but a growing, global movement.
We would like to especially thank our UICC member organisations for helping to spread the campaign around the world. We are also grateful to the UICC Board of Directors and the World Cancer Day Advisory Group who lent their expertise, shared their insights and helped guide the campaign.
A particular mention also goes to the team at the Movember Foundation for championing the Support through Sport initiative. Thank you to our World Cancer Day Visionary Partners, Leader Partner and Supporters, without whom this campaign would not be possible. And, a special thanks to everyone who contributed to the translation of the World Cancer Day materials, and making World Cancer Day more accessible than ever.
