The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Chile, PAHO and the South America Network of National Cancer Institutes (RINC), held the Latin American Regional Roundtable Meeting on Cervical Cancer Prevention on 26-27 April in Santiago, Chile.
More than 50 regional and international stakeholders from 16 countries attended the meeting, including representatives from eight private sector partners from a range of industries. The Roundtable was made possible through the kind support of UICC Vanguard Partner, Roche, and opening remarks were provided by the Honourable Dr Carmen Castillo, Minister of Health of Chile.
The overall goal of the Regional Roundtable was to provide participants the opportunity to assess the current state of national cervical cancer programmes in the region and identify key interventions to improve the effectiveness of their programs. Based on roundtable discussions, a summary of action items will be developed for the next 12-month period highlighting potential areas that could be supported by private sector partners.
