The Sixth Meeting of Cancer Registries in Ecuador
The Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador in its Article 18 notes that "All persons, individually and collectively have the right to seek, receive, share, produce and disseminate information, accurate, verified, timely, contextualized ..."
In the field of health, information becomes imperative, it's the point from the which health system of the country justifies the integration of its different components: Institutions, programs, policies, resources, actions and actors, in addition, it allows the feed back to take opportune and pertinent decisions in order to improve the quality of life of the population.
The epidemiological surveillance is the process that makes possible the compilation, processing and analysis of the information obtained on health events, then, before a suitable systematizing, to put the information available to professionals and public in general, in order to realize actions of prevention of the disease and health promotion.
The Instituto del Cáncer (SOLCA Cuenca), is the pioneer in applying the epidemiologic vigilance to a disease qualified like catastrophic, since it is the cancer, for its individual, familiar and community consequences, creating for this aim the Record of Tumors in Ecuador, the same one that has head quarters in the cities of Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manabí, Loja and Machala. The obtained information comes from public and private services of health, for what the spread information is a royal reflection of what happens, in the country
The Sixth Meeting of Cancer Registries in Ecuador has as aim to obtain quality information to act timely on this health problem, for it we invite those who are involved in the area of health, professionals and general population to participate in order to reach the planned aim.
