Cancer Today

CANCER TODAY provides a suite of data visualization tools based on current national estimates of the incidence, mortality, and prevalence of 36 cancer types in 185 countries, by sex and age group, collected as part of the GLOBOCAN project.

Please note that:

  • The estimates are based on the most recent data available to IARC and on information publically available online. More recent figures may be available directly from local sources. Find here some highlights of the Globocan2020 Data.
  • Because data sources are continually improving in quality and availability, and changes in methodology are sometimes required, estimates may not be truly comparable over time; caution should be exercised when interpreting the current estimates in comparison with those published in earlier editions of GLOBOCAN.
  • CANCER TODAY is under continual development, as we seek new and better ways to present global cancer burden data. To cite the website or the underlying data sources, click here. The platform will eventually replace the current GLOBOCAN website.

Usage

  • Before you start using "Cancer Today", we recommend that you first read the section Data sources and methods.
  • For a quick access to a summary of the burden of cancer in a country or for a cancer, use the FACT SHEETS option. Fact Sheets are a collection of statistical summaries for the eight most common cancer types or for each country or region of the world. They were developed to provide a quick overview of frequently-requested cancer incidence, mortality and prevalence statistics.
  • If you want to perform simple analysis or create your own graphs using "Cancer Today" data, use the ONLINE ANALYSIS menu options.
