We are the children, we are the world

The project, developed by the Fakous Cancer Center in Fakous, Egypt, addresses the availability of chemotherapy, knowledge expansion to professionals and the community, financial support and continual professional education.

Main Objectives of the Project:

  • Increase awareness, education and treatment, as well as reinforce the social well being for children with cancer in a population of 8 villages and slum areas in Fakous centre, Sharkia administrative region by:
  • Raising health awareness and correcting misconceptions and practices
    Addressing health problems in villages and slum areas in Fakous centre
  • Establishing a free paediatric clinic at Fakous centre
  • Advocating for the implementation of legislation protecting children's rights
    Planning and implementing teaching activities for our association
  • Increasing community participation
  • Advocating for childhood cancer

Benefits of the Project:

  • Training or primary health care providers physician & nurses for early detection of childhood cancer
  • Increase awareness of community leaders (advocacy)
  • Increased public awareness about childhood cancer (especially teachers, mothers of scholorised childre and women of child bearing age)
  • Improved medical, financial and social support for affected children
  • Specialized training of the nurses on paediatric cancer management
  • Improved information and education for families with affected children
