A GROUP of international health bodies supported by the American Cancer Society (ACS) wants the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) to be a global health priority.

ISTANBUL, Turkey – Only 5.4% of the world's population was covered by comprehensive smoke-free laws in 2008, up from 3.1% in 2007, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported today in its second report on the global tobacco epidemic.

Today we mark the 5th anniversary of the entry into force of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

Led by UICC President, Prof. David Hill the UICC Global Access to Pain Relief Initiative (GAPRI) is a project which aims to achieve Declaration Target 8: ‘Effective pain control measures will be available universally to all cancer patients in pain'.
