Slovenian Coalition for Tobacco Control

The Slovenian Coalition for Tobacco Control organised a “Cancer can be prevented too” round table on February 3rd 2010.

The round table, which was held at the Institute of Public Health Maribor, presented fact sheets, a report, posters and the World Cancer Declaration. It also highlighted the 11 risk factors that can cause cancer and discussed national screening programmes.

Participants of the round table were NGO representatives, health professionals and the media.

The major problem in the field of cancer prevention in Slovenia is that the responsiveness to the national screening programme for cancer is low. The main question at the round table was how to reach people to get them to take part in the national screening programmes.
