Pain management for children with cancer

As a factor for abandonment, the project focuses on the area of pain management for children with cancer in Morocco.

Pain management is an important concern in the care for children with cancer. However, it is often not adequatly treated in most of hospitals, particularly in developing countries. In Morocco, pain experienced by children with cancer is sometimes a reason why patients abandon treatment.

Main Objectives of the Project

  • Evaluate the quality of pain management survey (parents and caregivers)
  • Improve awareness
  • Organize workshops
  • Produce information material for parents and caregivers
  • Improve diagnostic and therapeutic tools
  • Write/adapt treatment protocols
  • Introduce new tools for pain care
  • Lobby to ease state regulation of opioid prescription
