About GAPRI

The Global Access to Pain Relief Initiative (GAPRI) is a joint programme of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) to make effective pain control measures universally available to cancer patients in pain by 2020.

GAPRI’s projects are designed to address these key objectives:

  • Creating stronger collaboration between cancer and HIV communities around pain treatment
  • Improving the market for essential pain medicines
  • Empowering governments to take the lead in expanding access to pain relief
  • Addressing health systems challenges at multiple levels
  • Mainstreaming the issue of pain treatment in global health efforts
