The Hungarian League Against Cancer and its 36 member organisations held awareness raising activities during the two month period between World Cancer Day (February 4th) and the National Cancer Day (April 10th).

On 4th February, which was also St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s 48th Anniversary, Cure4Kids held a World Cancer Day Webcast.

On World Cancer 2010, Dundee became Scotland’s first link in a unique chain of Cancer Research UK Centres that are being launched across the UK.

The British Liver Trust developed an online educational game to raise awareness of primary liver cancer and the associated risks of alcohol, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and fatty liver disease.

On World Cancer Day, the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union trained 30 nurses and midwives on cancer detection and screening.

The Turkish Association for Cancer Research and Control held a press conference on World Cancer Day, attended by 4 of its Board members and 10 media representatives. 

On World Cancer Day, awareness raising activities were held with the hospital personnel (doctors and paramedical staff).

On World Cancer Day, TAS Cancer Society held a Calorie Count Project.

FECEC held an informative space in the hall of Barcelona’s University Institute Dexeus with posters about the European code against cancer.

As in previous years most of the activity was centred around media (TV, radio, newspapers) awareness campaigns, and CHOC SA decided to focus on children this year.

The ICCCPO distributed the e-mail sent by the UICC to their members. The joint statement by UICC, ICCCPO and WCC was distributed to the media, stakeholders, members and emerging parent groups in Africa.

The Slovenian Coalition for Tobacco Control organised a “Cancer can be prevented too” round table on February 3rd 2010.

The Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc organised a walk against childhood cancer, with childhood cancer patients.

This year, Paraguay celebrated World Cancer Day for the first time.

PAEC NM&O (Cancer) Hospitals organised various activities aimed at reaching the public, media and the medical community to disseminate important information. Here are examples of what the 13 Hospitals did on World Cancer Day.

IHVN’s World Cancer Day theme was: “HIV/AIDS increases cancer risk; Stay safe, Stay Healthy”.

YVAN led a breast and cervical cancer awareness campaign for 400 market women in Ojudu-Berger, Lagos State. 

On World Cancer Day, AZ Football club encouraged fans not to chant "cancer" (an insult commonly used) to players on the opposing teams.

For World Cancer Day, the Cancer Association of Namibia held a Bonsai exhibition (4-7 February) where informative pamphlets were given to visitors.

The Al-Rasheed Ideal Primary Health Care Centre gave an awareness lecture about cancer, with a focus on breast cancer. Lecturers told women about the importance of learning how to do a breast self-exam.

MAHAK held two sets of activities on International Children Cancer Day and during the International Cancer Week.

On World Cancer Day, the Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital & Research Institute organised for Tollywood cinema heroes Varun Sandesh and Vega to hand out fruit and visit patients in the Hospital.

The Hospital organised an awareness-raising event in Chennai. Dr.V.Srinivasan (Clinical Oncologist and Dr.Joseph Dominic (Medical Oncologist) gave a talk on cancer awareness and prevention college lecturers and around 150 students.

Radiations of Hope and the Maharishi Dayanand Hospital and Medical Research Centre organised a camp which offered free cancer screening, detection and treatment.

Around 75 people took part in the World Cancer Day Awareness Programme that was conducted by Dr. Subhashini John and her team.

On World Cancer Day, Prof. Rezo Gagua, the General Director of the National Cancer Centre of Georgia, presented Georgia’s National Cancer Control Plan (NCCP) 2010-2020.

The Fundación Jóvenes contra el cáncer is home to over 50 children between the ages of 14 and 20 from all over Ecuador who suffer from different types of cancer.

Agir Ensemble organised a public debate on cancer, focusing on the campaign slogan “Cancer can be prevented too.”

On World Cancer Day, CafeSalud raised awareness about the alarm signals for early cancer detection and promoted vaccination against human papilloma virus (HPV) across the country.

14 local anti-cancer associations, 20 hospitals and 47 institutes organised various activities in their regions: cancer survivors gave a public performance, lectures and free consultations were given to people.

UICC member, INCA, published the “Executive Summary - Policy and Action for Cancer Prevention in Brazil – Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity”, a comprehensive handbook to raise cancer awareness and healthy lifesytles.  

On World Cancer Day, in coordination with the National Health Ministry, the PHO-WHO and the UNFPA, the Fundación Boliviana Contra el Cáncer held a press conference and an educative health fair.
