Prevent cancer and raise quality of life for cancer patients

Observing World Cancer Day with the theme: “Preventing cancer and raising quality of life for cancer patients”

Each year, globally, over 12 million people receive a cancer diagnosis and 7.6 million die of the disease. As a developing country, Bangladesh is also experiencing this tsunami of death with one in five adult Bangladeshi women (21%) dying and millions are suffering. The good news is that approximately 40% of cancers are potentially preventable. In addition, the most important thing is to raise the quality of life for cancer survivals, whose getting affected by cancer could not be prevented. Observing a day as “World Cancer Day” to raise awareness among people around the world is a global agenda and each year the global cancer advocates observes 4th of February as such a day. This year the theme for “World Cancer Day” has been chosen as “Preventing cancer and raising quality of life for cancer patients”.

With this context, as a Bangladesh based organization Eminence (www.eminence-bd.org), has the motto to work for the prevention, control, management and surveillance of NCDs – such as cancer – is aiming to raise awareness through events about preventive and quality of life for cancer survivors.

The events are being supported by the Non Communicable Diseases Forum, CSR section of The City Bank, DHL Express and Bridge Holdings.
