In 2009 launched the National Cancer Program, which resulted in reductions in mortality In 2012 6.43 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget on measures to improve medical care for patients with cancer.
In 2010 compared with 2009, mortality from cancer decreased by 0.9%. In the first nine months of 2011 compared to same period of 2010 decreased by another 1.6% in children by 8.7%.
In recent years, the Russian Federation annually identify more 516 thousand cancer. In 2010 the proportion of deaths from cancer was 13.8%, which is the second cause after cardiovascular diseases. At the end of 2010 more than 2.7 million patients - 1.7% of the population of Russia were registered in oncological institutions in Russia.
