Over 120 National Laboratory Staff Attend the UICC-ASCP Specialized Training Workshop in Honduras

The ASCP-UICC Specialized Training Workshop on Cervical and Breast Cancer Diagnostic Techniques and Pathology Services was held on 22-23 September in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Over 120 pathologists, cytotechnologists, and histotechnologists participated in the workshop with some attendees traveling over 14 hours to attend the event. The workshop was organised in collaboration with key local partners, the Honduran Ministry of Health, Honduran Association of Pathologists, and the Associación Hondureña de Planificación de Familia. 

Faculty for the workshop included expert international ASCP member volunteers, Dr Alma Camacho (Puerto Rico), Dr Luis de las Casas (NY, USA), and Dr Beatriz Hornburg (Brazil). ASCP Director of International Strategy and Operations Jennifer R. Young, attended the event as well as Dr Lisseth de Campos, UICC member from El Salvador.

The workshop was funded through the ASCP Technical Assistance Fund  that supports the development of on-demand training and technical assistance opportunities requested by key stakeholders that participate in UICC's portfolio of programmes focused on improving cancer control in resource-limited settings
