UICC welcomes the renewed commitment to universal health coverage made by governments, noting the crucial inclusion of cancer in the Political Declaration on UHC endorsed at the recent high-level meeting in New York. However, the document falls short of many of the concrete commitments needed to drive change.

Love Hope Strength, a UICC partner organisation led by Welsh rock star Mike Peters, visited UICC offices with a brief performance of the LHS theme song and ahead of the group's 45km trek to raise funds and awareness for cancer care.

The recent earthquake in Marrakesh has exacerbated existing challenges in healthcare delivery and generated much uncertainty but also generated some positive response, according to Bahija Gouimi, President of UICC member organisation AMAL.
