This month: African Organisation for Research & Training in Cancer (AORTIC) latest initiatives.
AORTIC is preparing a volume for African researchers called “The AORTIC Handbook for Cancer Research in Africa” that it is being published by WHO-AFRO to be available in November.
Also, AORTIC is planning the first instalment of the “AORTIC African Cancer Leaders Institute” (ACLI). The goal of the ACLI is to develop the next generation of leaders in cancer research, advocacy, education, policy, and clinical practice in Africa. The ACLI will develop activities for individuals who commit to provide leadership in cancer for Africa. The inauguration of the Institute will occur at the AORTIC 2013 meeting in Durban, South Africa, 21-24 November 2013.

2nd International UV and Skin Cancer Prevention Conference When: 10-13 September Where: Berlin, Germany Under the auspices of UICC
The aim of this conference is to learn and share knowledge on what can be done to prevent skin cancer. Leading figures in the world of UV and skin cancer prevention will come to Berlin to speak to public health professionals, communication professionals, researchers, decision makers and other professionals working with UV and skin cancer prevention.
The conference will also provide short lectures in addition to selected abstracts. During guided poster walks and several workshops you will have the opportunity to discuss and network with other professionals in order to leave the conference with new contacts, ideas and inspiration.
