"The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) unites the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to integrate cancer control into the world health and development agenda."
The ICCP Portal is a one-stop stop for cancer prevention and control planning. It hosts topic-specific networks across the cancer care continuum that identifies best practices, key resources and gaps in those fields.
The Swiss Cancer League is one of UICC’s oldest members and patrons, taking an active part in our global cancer community and activities since 1935.
The Swiss Cancer League is a national, charitable, private organisation, founded in 1910 and headquartered in Bern. It attends to all aspects of cancer, with the aim of ensuring that fewer people develop cancer and more people can be treated successfully.
The organisation supports innovative cancer research projects, increases public awareness of prevention measures and is committed to early diagnosis and treatment. One of its first concerns is to ensure high-quality advice and psychosocial support for patients and their relatives. The Swiss Cancer League also supports other cancer control organisations in low income countries.
Recently, under Oncosuisse guidance and on behalf of “Dialog Nationale Gesundheitspolitik”, the Swiss Cancer League worked out a National Strategy Against Cancer and the policy related to the implementation of a comprehensive National Cancer Programme 2011–2015 (Full Programme in French or German - Abriged version in English). Both, the strategy and the programme, are focused on three fundamentals: coordination and cooperation, integrated care and the best possible quality and equality of opportunity.
In 2010, the Swiss Cancer League received the UICC Award for Excellence in Global Cancer Control. The Swiss Cancer League is also strongly involved in our “Together we are stronger” campaign, supporting our advocacy work in the run-up to the UN High Level Meeting (HLM) on NCDs in 2011 and the Global Access to Pain Relief Initiative (GAPRI), one of UICC’s key programmes.
We look forward to continuing our long lasting relationship!
