University of Colorado Cancer Center (UCCC) provides a multidisciplinary team approach to care-the opportunity to meet with a variety of specialists, in one location, in one day. UCCC is dedicated to treating nearly every form of cancer, including lung and chest, urologic including prostate, colorectal and other gastrointestinal cancers, breast, brain tumors, skin, gynecological, head and neck, leukemia and lymphoma and pediatric. Some patients also are offered participation in phase I clinical trials through our developmental therapeutics program headed by an internationally recognized leader in developing new cancer therapies. The Clinical and Community Cancer Prevention and Control (CCCPC) Program fosters inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional research to reduce the cancer burden in Colorado, the rocky mountain region, and the nation. CCCPCP includes 60 investigators (43 full members, and 17 associate members), representing 10 departments and centers of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Nursing, and from three UCCC consortium institutions: AMC Cancer Research Center, University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado State University. During the past year, CCCPCP has maintained a research portfolio of almost $9 million in total costs from the NCI, with an additional $3.8 million in other peer-reviewed support. The UCCC was admitted as a member of UICC in January 2007.
