Public Organization "Ergene" is a non-profit organization founded in August 2006 in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The organization’s aim is to promote a better quality of life for the general population by supporting and advancing public health and developing cancer control programs locally and regionally. “Ergene” runs breast cancer control programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the president’s administration and the Ministry of Social Affairs, while also implementing the “Necklace” awareness project with educational cards. “Ergene” also collaborates on cancer control program development with the national center of oncology, and exchanges information with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Russia and Byelorussia. Cancer programs for psycho-oncology and palliative care are under development as well. Current support goes toward developing job aids for proper nutrition for psycho neurology patients with chronic conditions, non governmental organizations, crisis centers, and patient and women’s rights awareness. In 2008, Ergene was accepted as a UICC associate member.
