Patient's Friends Society - Jerusalem (PFS) is a Palestinian non-governmental organization founded in 1980 by Palestinian academics and health professionals. The Society is a registered non-profit charity located within Augusta Victoria Hospital on the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem. They are dedicated to providing public health services for palestinian women through health education and counseling, early detection of disease through affordable health screening examinations, and by conducting research. Community health education has been one of their major outreach activities since 1992. PFS teachs women ranging in age from 14 to 80 years old. The topics addressed include breast disease, sexually transmitted infections, osteoporosis and the midlife woman. PFS publishes educational leaflets and posters that are distributed at health education sessions, in clinics, at workshops and conferences, with a special focus on women with breast cancer. In 2005, PFS was accepted as a full UICC member.
