The Miyagi Cancer Center was founded in 1967. For many years it has played a central role in diagnosis, treatment, and research of cancer. Their goal is to secure the mental and physical wellbeing of the people in Miyagi Prefecture. The center is constantly working towards the prevention, treatment, and research against cancer. A teaching and training facility is also maintained at the center for those wanting to become specialists in cancer medicine. Simply stated, the Miyagi Cancer Center mission statement is "to fight and win the battle against cancer." The Center became full UICC member in June 2007.
