The Peruvian League against Cancer is a private association of social benefic character with non profit purposes. It has been founded on November 12th of 1950, in order to combine wills and resources to fight against cancer through investigation, education, defense and service. The League has its central headquarters in Lima and develops its activities across Peru thanks to its 18 branches. It is affiliated to the International Union against Cancer (UICC) and the Iberoamerican Association of Leagues against Cancer (ALICC) and works in association to the American Cancer Society (ACS). The League is recognized by the Peruvian Ministry of Health as a “Private Institution of welfare and aid”. It is also recognized as “organization percipient of donations” by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the APCI (International Cooperation Peruvian Agency). The core activities of the League are the prevention and early detection of Cancer, especially for the poverty population group, which is the main public of the League.
