The association of Latin American leagues against cancer, ALICC, fights cancer in all its forms: it promotes actions for prevention through information, health education and assistance programs designed to rehabilitate patients and their families, in the spirit of the founding act of Cartagena de Indias whose motto was "cancer is a problem of education."
ALICC is an international NGO with regional reference for their leagues in prevention of the disease with three main strategies and their corresponding lines of work and fields of action:
- Make continuing education programs, technical assistance and dissemination at all three levels of prevention for ALICC affiliated leagues.
- Support community involvement and volunteers work in the projects of fight against cancer led by their local leagues.
- Encourage the development of regional and local public policies aimed at improving coverage, access and quality control programs against cancer.
