Lebanese Cancer Society

The Lebanese Cancer Society was founded in 1954 (Permission No.461/1954), and recognized of Public Utility (Decree No. 4825/1954). It is one of the largest voluntary, non-governmental health organization in Lebanon.
The Society’s national mission is to eliminate (or to work for the control of) cancer as a major health problem (or a disease, as we know, that will dominate the 21th century),
by:

– Promoting prevention and early detection of cancer,
– Improving treatment methods and saving lives from cancer,
– and Diminishing suffering from cancer with a better quality of life

through :

– research
– education
– advocacy
– and service.

The Lebanese Cancer Society is an active member of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) since 1974.
The L.C.S. is governed by its full or associate members (around 200), which meet in General Assembly every year.
Between Assemblies, the LCS is directed by a Board of Administration (B.A.) (or Executive Committee), composed of 12 members and 3 regional representative members. This B.A. is the body that sets national strategy, programme structure and implementation for the organization.
