King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre - Jeddah
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre - Jeddah (KFSH&RC) opened in April 2000. With a focus on clinical research and extensive hospital services, it aims to be a leading organization for the promotion of health. Over the last three years, the hospital has taken innovative steps in establishing four centers of excellence, including a department of oncology.
The oncology department's mission and purpose is to deliver accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate state-of-the-art cancer care through education, research, and integrated teamwork.
The department is now the second largest referral center for cancer patients in the entire middle east. Current accomplishments include a bone marrow transplantation program, a pediatric hematooncology program, benign hematology services, palliative care and home health care services, an oncology data unit, and advancements in biomedical physics. They are currently developing 2 projects in total body irradiation and performance improvement categories.
KFSH&RC hopes to promote research activities, be involved in multi-institutional protocols, and advance their international collaboration.
KFSH&RC was accepted as a full member with UICC in January, 2008.
